BULLS FALL 2-1 IN NINTH AT INDIANAPOLIS

(Indianapolis, IN) Justin Ruggiano drove home the only Bulls run in the sixth, as Durham fell 2-1 to Indianapolis on Tuesday in the bottom of the ninth.

Ruggiano doubled to right center with runners at first and second and one out in the sixth against Ian Snell (9K in six innings). The base hit scored Henry Mateo from second, and Reid Brignac was held at third. Unfortunately, Indianapolis threw behind Ruggiano, who rounded second too far, and he was tagged out on a 9-4-3 relay by Steve Pearce. After that, Durham didn't get another runner past first base.

Bryan Myrow, who doubled in the first Indianapolis run in the opening inning, was the hero in the ninth. Brian Bixler doubled to left-center off Dale Thayer (0-4) to start a two-out rally. Lastings Milledge, down 0-2, chopped an infield hit off the plate to put runners at first and third. Myrow, who was 3-for-4, fell behind 0-2, but worked the count full before hitting a solid single to right to score the game-winning run.

The rally spoiled another solid effort by Jason Cromer (3-2 1.75). Cromer went six, allowing a run on five hits. Julio DePaula followed with two scoreless innings.

Durham, which has scored single runs in each of the first two games of the current series against the Indians, had only five hits - two by Ruggiano. Durham (53-43) has dropped three straight, all by one or two runs. The Bulls remain 1.5 games behind Norfolk in the South Division, and 1.5 games ahead of Gwinnett in the wild card race.

Wade Davis takes the mound on Wednesday afternoon at 1 p.m. for Durham. Coverage from Victory Field begins at 12:40 p.m. on 99.9 the Fan's HD2.
